Software for Windows
Your Windows PC needs certain software in order to use the ED-BMS box.
Software driver
Your Windows PC needs a software driver to be able to communicate with the ED-BMS Diagnostic unit. This is a small piece of software that makes the box show up as a serial port that other programs can access.
You only need to do this one time for the computer.
-
You can download the driver here.
-
Unzip and install the driver…
-
If that doesn’t work (Dan, please advise if this was easier and I’ll make it the primary method), download the installer here and run it.
Serial Port Program
You also need a program to communicate with the serial port.
We have had good luck with Termite (free) If you have another serial program you prefer, feel free to use that, of course.
- Download a serial program:
- Download Termite 3.3
-
Plug the box into the computer.
-
Select the correct COM port.
-
Configure it for 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity (“8N1”) and 115200 baud.
-
Open the connection.
-
If you get a message like the following
-----------------------------------------
--- ED Battery Management Diagnostics ---
--- v1.0.4 ---
-----------------------------------------
Connect to OBD port - Waiting for CAN-Bus
...
then you have gotten all the computer configuration correct and now just need to plug into the car.
MORE TO COME
These instructions need to be user tested (and improved)…
